Bethel Agyeman Donkor is a Legal Practitioner with over 37 years post qualification experience specializing in Aviation Law, with 29 years of international experience in the aviation sector. He joined Ghana Airways in 1988 and in 1995 became the Head of the Legal Department. He continued to work with the organization until its liquidation sometime in 2006. During his engagement with Ghana Airways, Mr. Donkor advised on a number of transactions involving but not limited to aircraft insurance, aircraft purchase, lease, financing, commercial cooperation and airline licensing and other regulatory issues.
He was also a member of Ghana’s Air Transport Licensing Authority and was always a core member of the Ghana team that negotiated air services agreements on behalf of the Government of Ghana providing legal advice and direction. Since the demise of Ghana Airways he has represented a number of private airlines and banks in Ghana in various transactions including aircraft finance, leases, and application for licenses among others and has been involved as core team member advising and leading in the setting up of some startup airlines in Ghana. He holds a bachelor degree in law (LLB) from the University of Ghana in Accra and a Graduate Diploma in Petroleum Law from the University of Dundee in Scotland. He is a member of the Ghana Bar. He is fluent in English.
