Dr Kwame Kyei

Dr. Kwame Kyei is an accomplished entrepreneur and corporate executive with over 25 years of experience in the Petroleum downstream sector. Dr. Kyei is currently the Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board of the Unity Group of Companies with its latest addition being Unity Air. The group has a workforce of about 4,000.
Between 1992- 1995 Dr. Kyei became a Transporter for BOST in the haulage of petroleum products. In 1995 he established his first petroleum product retail outlet at Taifa, Accra and became a dealer for the Ghana Oil Company Ltd. (GOIL). From his humble beginnings, he steadily expanded the business and was granted an Oil Marketing License by the Energy Commission at the time, leading to the establishment of Unity Oil Company Limited in 2002. The Company currently owns over thirty (30) gas stations all over the nation. In addition to providing direct sales to customers from these retail outlets, Unity Oil provides sales to a number of corporate clients in the mining, communications and manufacturing sectors of the economy.
In 2008, the ultra-modern Sports Hotel was established in Kumasi. This hotel has carved a niche in the hospitality industry.
As a way of contributing to Ghana’s burgeoning democracy and expanding media landscape, Light FM was established in Kumasi in 2006 and this radio station is keen on providing social cohesion, civic education, morality and advocacy for the underprivileged in society. In the subsequent years the group has added Light Television, Vison 1 FM and Wisdom FM to the media scene.
Nation Services Company Ltd, a Bulk Distribution Company (BDC) was established in the year 2014. Nation Services distributes products to Oil Marketing Companies and other bulk distribution companies.
Dr. Kyei has won numerous awards over the years for his exemplary leadership and his contributions to business and development in Ghana. Throughout his life, Dr. Kyei has championed the cause of indigenous entrepreneurship. He believes that the Ghanaian youth must be encouraged to work hard and trust in their abilities to make our nation great.
He sponsors the organization of a peace campaign/ thanksgiving service annually to bring people together and pray for the nation. The thanksgiving service has an annual average participation of about 1000,000 people from all walks of life.
For the Unity Group, Dr. Kwame Kyei has high hopes. In his words “I believe we have laid the foundation. Our aim is to expand internationally and emerge as the number one choice even beyond West Africa”.
